See Me: Bus Signalling App

See Me — making public transport more accessible for everyone

See Me is a ground-breaking app developed by Nukon's Cassie Hames, a software programmer who is legally blind. Frustrated by being regularly left behind at her bus stop, Cassie began working on a solution. The result? See Me, a fully integrated app that delivers notifications to public transport users when the bus is approaching and when it is about to reach the destination.

See Me is bridging the gap between drivers and their passengers in a significant step towards inclusive public transport, aiming to reduce anxiety and make travel more accessible and independent for everyone.

How does See Me work?

See Me users can remotely hail buses via an in-app request. Once the request is made, users will receive updates when the bus is approaching their pickup and drop-off stops.  

At the same time, See Me triggers notifications to the bus driver, either via using the bus “bell” system or with a visual notification on a built-in display.

With this method, both the driver is informed that they need to pull over, and the user is updated via the app with spoken, visual, and haptic notifications, ensuring that no one gets left behind.

See Me has completed trials with the support of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT), Adelaide Metro, and Torrens Transit, on the following bus services:
98A, 98C, 99A and 99C City Connector

Queensland
See Me has completed a closed user testing trial in collaboration with the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Translink.

New South Wales
See Me has completed a trial in Port Macquarie with Busways as part of the Bus Boarding Assistant Innovation Challenge.
